Support UW Nursing Students

Our UW students—including our nursing students—are being challenged to continue in their studies as they struggle to meet financial obligations. Students who previously had employment either on campus or in the local community, have now lost positions that provided them income to pay tuition, rent, and buy groceries. We have already been approached by several of our nursing students who are needing assistance at this time.

While we recognize that this period is difficult for all of us, we invite you to make a gift today to the Fathi Family Endowed Emergency Support for Nursing Students fund. This fund, created by the Fathi Family, allows us to provide unrestricted resources to undergraduate and graduate students who have immediate financial need. Award amounts vary, but are typically a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. These funds can make a crucial difference in our student’s choice to continue their studies and be ready to join the nursing workforce.

About the Fathi Family

Joelle Fathi is a double alumnus (MN ’00, DNP ’13) and Jay Fathi (BA '88, MD '93) are both UW graduates who, along with their sons, Peter and Thomas, are active in the community and care deeply about equitable access to education for all. As students, both Joelle and Jay were recipients of individual and local financial support that prevented an interruption in their education during a time of need. As a result, the Fathi Family Endowed Emergency Support for Nursing Students Fund at the UW School of Nursing was established to help students obtain their education despite unforeseen circumstances.
