Students Helping Students
The Senior Class Gift is an annual tradition where graduating seniors, their families and the community are asked to join together in a collective show of support and honor of the graduating class. This year the UW Tacoma Class of 2020 stands together to support the efforts in overcoming the changes we face in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our fellow students are experiencing unprecedented hardships that may prevent them continuing their education or finishing their degrees. Many UW seniors and their families now find themselves in immensely challenging circumstances. Many have lost the jobs and income they rely on to cover their UW education and living expenses. Others face immediate food and housing insecurities or personal and family health crises. Emergency resources available from state, federal or community sources often take at least a week, often longer, before they arrive in the hands of someone suffering a crisis. Emergency Aid at UW Tacoma is usually disbursed to the student within one or two days.
The UW Tacoma COVID-19 Emergency Student Fund provides unrestricted resources to UW Tacoma students who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. You can help bring relief to these students and prevent the disruption of their education.
Your gift today will help provide the following necessities for students in need:
- Completion grants for graduating seniors
- Tuition, books and supplies
- Housing and living expenses
- Technology for virtual learning
- Child care
- Unanticipated medical cost
Your support will make all the difference.

Medical Care
Now more than ever it is critical that students remain healthy. In the event that a student or family member they support becomes ill, you can help alleviate the financial strain of unanticipated medical care.
$500
Housing
Stable housing is critical for student success in this moment of virtual learning and social distancing. You can supplement the cost of housing for a student struggling to pay rent or contribute to their family’s household expenses.
