You are making a difference!
Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, we have received nearly four times the normal annual number of emergency aid requests from UW students. Contributions from donors like you have made it possible for every student who has sought emergency aid to receive the help they need. However, the economic ripple effects of this crisis continue to be felt in our campus community. The generosity of our UW alumni and friends will be critical in the months to come.
Kay Lewis, Assistant Vice Provost for Enrollment and Executive Director for Financial Aid and Scholarships, recently shared with us the following update and note of appreciation for those who have contributed to our efforts so far:
“The number of students coming to us for assistance is unprecedented, and thanks to you, we can help them stay on track and in school. With your gifts and pooling funds from academic units and programs across campus, we have been able to help over 1,700 students with support for tuition, internet access for remote learning, rent, food, medical bills and other critical expenses. Thank you!”
We are grateful for all of you who have joined our partnership in supporting UW students. We cannot do this important work without you. Thank you!
Thank You!
To our UW community,
Thank you so much to all of you who have recently contributed to the UW Seattle COVID-19 Emergency Student Fund. In a matter of days, the collective generosity of donors like you has elevated our ability to support UW students facing precarious financial circumstances as a result of this global crisis.
To date, we have provided emergency grants and scholarships to more than 500 students at our Seattle campus. Donor support has been critical as we continue hearing from new students everyday who need our help during this challenging time.
We will continue to keep you updated on our progress. In the meantime, we hope you will share this message with your fellow UW community members and encourage them to join our partnership. Together, we are making all the difference for our students.
Thank you!
