The last few weeks of Winter quarter has been... interesting. It was full of unexpected surprises and we had to make quite some changes to due to the current situation. Fortunately, our team members have pretty good resilience skills. We adapted to the changes and managed to keep up with the schedule. There are only a few things to do before final assembly is complete.
Our first water test needs to be rescheduled due to facility closure, and we are now working on alternative locations.
We also keep in close contact with the competition director. According to the latest update, the race in July is expected to take place as planned.
Stay tuned for more updates!
As winter quarter begins to wrap up, we have been working very diligently and have begun some assembly. As seen in this photo, we have our miter box which rotates the kinetic energy from our driver 90 degrees and allows the propellers to move the sub forward. The miter box contributes to a very important part of our sub and due to the tight tolerance of our bevel gears it is crucial to fit almost perfectly. The drive train team has been spending a lot of time machining these complex components of our sub and we have Ali Jones and Noah Adler to thank for manufacturing our miter box.
Our pool test is 5 weeks away and we are making some great progress. Thanks so much to our amazing team members for their hard work and dedication.
Looking forward to a great competition this June!
