The Evans School Class of 2020 and Interim Dean Alison Cullen invite you to join in supporting students with a gift to the Evans School Critical Need Fund. Gifts made to the fund will be used to provide financial support to Evans School students experiencing a state of emergency that threatens their ability to reach their full academic potential and/or achieve their optimal educational experience.
In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting Evans School students is particularly important as many students and graduates are navigating an uncertain job market, and some may find themselves unable to work. Living and attending graduate school in Seattle is expensive. Without enough savings to draw from, an unexpected expense or a reduction in hours at work can be a huge setback for students, jeopardizing their ability to attend class or to focus their full attention on their education. Your gift, no matter the size, can mean the world to a student in need. Together, we can ensure that Evans School students are supported no matter what they face.
Many students will face financial insecurity in the coming months as a result of lost wages from jobs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. $16.39 represents Seattle's minimum wage and can help replace one hour's worth of missed work opportunities.

$50 could be used to help support these students pay their monthly internet or electricity bills, which will be critical to their success while the UW delivers its courses via remote learning this quarter.

You can help mitigate an unexpected transportation cost like a plane ticket. Many students who planned on living on campus during Spring Quarter might need to travel home for remote learning.
$500 can help cover an unexpected medical expense or prescription medications for a student.
With your generous donation of $1,000 we can support multiple students or ensure that a student experiencing greater need is fully supported and able to meet all their basic needs on a regular basis. The cost of education goes beyond tuition and there are many factors that affect a student's trajectory.
